The pumpkin and teacup sit beside a felt hill and yellow button propped against a spool.
Felt Presence Open letter

At lunchtime in Felt Presence, the ceramic pumpkin found the teacup facing the wall.

He turned it towards the shop window, but a spool of velvet blocked the view.

A skeleton offered to move the spool.

“Wait,” said the pumpkin.

He cut a green hill from felt and leaned it against the velvet. Then he glued a yellow button above it.

The teacup’s handle cast a small shadow across the hill.

“Is it warm enough?” asked the skeleton.

The pumpkin fetched his orange blanket and spread it over half the saucer.

He settled on the other half.

They stayed until the glue was dry.
