Felt Presence Open letter
At opening time in Felt Presence, a skeleton brought breakfast to the pumpkin’s upstairs.
One crumb on a saucer.
The pumpkin looked at it.
“I don’t actually eat.”
The skeleton lowered its tray.
“Neither do I.”
“Oh.”
They regarded the crumb with less responsibility.
“Shall we keep it?” asked the pumpkin.
The skeleton fetched a small glass jar. Together they eased the crumb inside and stoppered it.
“What should the label say?”
The pumpkin thought for a moment.
“Breakfast.”
The skeleton added a date in very small writing.
Then it brought two empty cups, and they enjoyed those enormously.
